Top 7 things you should know before buying a laptop

I think you might also be confused when selecting the best laptop that suits for you in affordable budget. When looking at the specifications, we'll get confused and banging our heads to understand the terminology used in the product description. In the dilemma, we decide to buy any random laptop without having proper knowledge and then regret about it later. To avoid this, it worth to consider below things before buying the laptop:

High-End or Low-End user

Decide yourself whether you want to use the laptop for heavy tasks such as 3D graphics, Video Editing, Photoshop and multitasking etc,. or you want to use the laptop for light tasks such as watching movies, browsing web etc,.

Once you decided whether you're a high-end user or low end user then 50% of your job is done in selecting the best laptop that suits you. Now, you're just left with choosing specifications.

Processor

AMD and Intel are the major processors available in the market but let's see the difference between them:

FeaturesAMDIntel
Power ConsumptionPower consumption is higher than IntelIntel consumes less power than AMD
PricePrice is lower than Intelif you want higher performance and price is also high
OverheatingOverheating is high than IntelOverheating is low than AMD

There are different generations in the intel process you might have heard of i3, i5, i7 versions of the processor. i3 is enough for the low-end users and i5,i7 is best for high-end users.

RAM

The abbreviation of RAM is Random access memory. Let's understand how the RAM works, whenever you open any application like browser, before browser appears on the screen, the files will be loaded in the RAM and when simultaneously you have opened a heavy task like after effects. If there will not be sufficient space in RAM. The browser application will be swapped by after effects. RAM will do the same whenever a new application is opened or launched.  Higher the RAM, higher the performance.

In normal user, 4GB of RAM is enough for students to learn to programming or watching the movies. In the market, there are different types of RAM's such as DDR2, DDR3, DDR4. Among these DDR3 will be best, will be good enough for students etc,.

Hard Disk:

Hard Disk is the amount data that can be stored on Laptop. It is good enough to have 250GB and if you want to extend the storage by adding the external hard disk to it. External hard disk is available in the affordable price.

Graphic Card

Graphic card are useful to improve the resolution of the picture. Higher the Graphic card higher resolution. You'll need the higher graphic card for the high-resolution games and videos etc,. There are two types of Graphics Cards available in the market:

  1. Integrated Graphic Card
  2. Dedicated Graphic Card
Integrated Graphic Card
  • Integrated Graphic card is built-in the mother board. It uses the system memory, produces less heat and power. It is good enough for the students and low end users. This is not suitable for the serious gamers.
Dedicated Graphic Card
  • Dedicated graphic card uses the dedicated memory for showing the visual information on the screen instead of using the system memory. It consumes more power and releases more heat. If you are high-end user then you may have to use the dedicated graphic card.

Screen Resolution and size

Generally most commonly used display screen size is 15.6 inch and screen resolution is 1366 x 768 pixels and good enough for all users. Integrated graphic card sends pixels in the form of frames through RAM. If you would like to go with Touchscreen, they will be bit expensive. The weight of the laptop is below 2.5kg which fits any laptop bags.

Battery life

Most of the all branded laptop gives around 4-5 hours backgrounds. It is worth to check the specifications before buying the Laptop.

To conclude this, I would recommend buying any brand laptop with 20k-30k which will be decent enough to satisfy all your needs(not heavy games) instead of buying low configuration laptop(below 15k-20k) and regretting ourself.
